Copper tea caddy (chazutsu)

from $45.00

Fully custom and handmade by partner artisans in Japan over many hours, copper tea canisters develop a beautiful warm patina with time and through daily use. We recommend rubbing the entire surface with your bare hands each day, as the oils and oxidation will gradually change the character of the canister over time. To this day, we still enjoy using a copper canister which we have had for over 15 years (the larger, darker canister in the second picture), and many become treasured heirlooms. Even while the exterior developed the warm patina with time, they are so airtight that the inside of the lid remained bright copper. We offer two sizes: the 40g is perfect for one can of matcha, while the 100g size can hold 100g of a fine leaf tea such as sencha or gyokuro, but will hold less of a more bulky tea such as houjicha or genmai matcha-iri. The inner lid is made of tin plating to help seal your teas for optimal freshness.

40g canister dimensions: diameter: 2.48 in (6.3cm), height: 2.76 in (7cm), capacity: 40g matcha

100g canister dimensions: diameter: 2.83 in (7.2cm), height 3.74 in (9.5cm), capacity: 100g of fine-leaf teas, less for bulky teas
